I'm pretty picky when it comes to my body wash. I have dry skin so I need something that moisturizes and it has to smell good. Above all, I love a good lather and I don't like to reapply so it better be sudsy and last. This recipe checks off all my boxes and smells amazing with Young Living's Lemongrass essential oil! I'm seriously obsessed with lemongrass right now. You can add whatever oil you like to suit your smelly preference. That is one thing I love about essential oils and making my own products. You can adjust them to your liking, you know what's in your products, and it's so much cheaper! I chose sweet almond oil because its a great moisturizer and avocado oil for my sensitive skin and maturing skin. I add the vegetable glycerin for added moisturizing action and to help thicken the body wash. Vegetable glycerin also helps with the suds. I used Young Living's Lemongrass essential oil because it smells amazeballs and creates a spa like experience for me in the shower! Ingredients3/4 cup Dr. Bonner's Unscented Liquid Castile Soap 1 tsp Vegetable Glycerin 1 tsp Avocado Oil 1 tsp Sweet Almond Oil 15 drop Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil of Choice (I LOVE Lemongrass) Instructions

Ingredients 6 tbsp Baking Soda 1/2 cup Dr. Bonner's Unscented Liquid Castile Soap 3/4 cup water 8-10 drops of your favorite Young Living Essential Oil InstructionsIn at least a 6 quart stock pot, GENTLY combine soap, water, and baking soda with a rubber spatula over medium-high heat. Gently stir the mixture until a plume of foam nearly reaches the top of the pot (like in the picture below). Remove from the stove into the sink just in case the plume decides to jump the sides of the pot. Let the mixture cool for a few hours. I typically do this at night and let it sit overnight. The plume of foam will slowly shrink down and become a sticky thick mixture floating atop the separated water. Once cooled, gently scoop out the sticky thick mixture with a slotted spoon and place in a small mixing bowl or a 1-quart Mason jar; a wide-mouth jar works best. I prefer the Mason jar because its easier to fluff it up in the next step. Discard the water remaining in the pot. Next, using either an immersion blender or the whisk attachment to your hand mixer, whip the mixture, moving the mixer up and down to create a rich looking cream. It actually looks like whipped cream! I have yet to try an immersion blender but I suspect the mixture would be less gritty than using the hand mixer. Once you've reached a beautiful luscious cream, add 5-10 drops of your favorite Young Living essential oil and whip to combine. I used Grapefruit and Tangerine essential oils for this batch and it smells amazeballs! Store in an air tight glass container like a wide-mouth Mason jar or my personal favorite jar from Ikea - the Korken jar. Be sure to keep the jar sealed tight when not in use so it will last longer. *Note: when using a hand mixer, this shaving soap does have a little bit of a gritty texture to it on the skin. I personally do not mind this because its exfoliating but some people may not like this. I believe using an immersion blender would eliminate this. If you use one, let me know how it turns out! **This recipe was inspired by Farm Girl Inspirations. To UseScoop out a bit of shaving soap with your fingers. Apply to damp skin and lather up on the surface of the skin. Shave as usual with your favorite razor. Curious about what essential oils are and how to use them? I found this tasty recipe and had to try it at my Handmade Holiday Make & Take. It was an absolute hit! I highly recommend this tasty treat on Christmas morning and for any holiday party. It's sure to please and ignite that Christmas spirit!
I absolutely hate my glass stove top. I much rather cook on a gas range but we have electric and this is what we're blessed with. So, I'm thankful I have somewhere to cook. I'm even more thankful that I discovered Young Living's Thieves Household Cleaner and Lemon essential oil! I have tried everything to clean this glass top and nothing works as good as this combo. It actually cleans better than any commercial chemical packed cleaner too! That's pretty amazing. It's so simple too. You'll think no way this will work....well I promise you...you will be shocked! Simply scrap any really burnt on gunk with a glass and tile scraper (I use this one) and wipe off big stuff. Then, sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda over the surface. I actually use an empty grated parmesan cheese container to store my baking soda for cleaning in. it works great and its easier to control this way. Then, I drop 1-3 drops of lemon essential oil onto the baking soda and spray generously with my Thieves All-Purpose Kitchen cleaner mixture. I then take a dish brush and gently scrub the glass top and then let it sit for about 5 minutes. I usually use this time to clean my sink. After 5 minutes or so, I take a damp paper towel or towel and wipe the stove top. It literally just wipes right off. After I've gotten all the baking soda mixture off, I spray the glass top again with my Thieves All-Purpose Cleaner to remove any residue and to shine up the surface. Boom! You're done. The surface should be free of gunk and shiny! Ingredients

So, this might sound crazy but I SWEAR to you this stuff works wonders. I first used bentonite clay in a face mask to help pull impurities from my skin due to some acne. Then, I moved on to an armpit detox when I switched to a natural deodorant, a foot mask to do a body detox, and I'm seriously contemplating taking it internally. I even used it on my daughter's legs when she got eaten up by mosquitoes. I was blown away by how much it helped her. This clay is a very versatile healing and cleansing clay. When you combine bentonite clay with water it becomes negatively charged. Then, when you put it on your skin, it reacts with the positive toxins in your body. As the clay dries, it pulls those positive charged impurities from the skin into the dried clay. Amazing, I know. You're probably wondering why I would do an armpit detox. It sounds super weird. I thought the same thing when I heard about it too. I decided to try it out though when I stopped using commercial antiperspirant and deodorant. I learned that many deodorants contained aluminum and some scientists believe that aluminum exposure may be linked to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. There are a host of other toxins in deodorants like known carcinogens and hormone disruptors. I don't know about you but I'm not really okay with smearing that on my lymph nodes. When I started using a natural deodorant, I was sweating so bad and I found myself stinky after a few hours on really hot days. I discovered an armpit detox recipe on Wellness Mama's website so I decided to give it a whirl. I felt SO stupid doing it but after a few whirls, it worked! I was finally able to use my natural deodorant without it wearing off after a few hours. A few words of advice- one, when you stop using commercial deodorants, you will sweat and you will stink. The sweat is good though. It’s the body's natural way of removing impurities. Antiperspirants trap all the impurities inside the body instead of letting them out. Free the toxins! Two- you will need to do the detox a few times before you stop the stink. I did at least 3-4 before it was 100% effective. Now, I do it about once a month and as time goes on, I may be able to reduce that to every few months. I usually use the face mask once a week. I use it to help soften, tone, and tighten my skin. I do have quite a bit of scaring and discoloration from all the years with adult acne. I also add some lavender and copaiba essential oils. Both oils support healthy-looking and youthful skin, they smell amazing, and have calming and relaxing qualities. NOTE: Do NOT mix bentonite clay in a metal bowl or with a metal spoon. Mix in a glass or ceramic bowl with the handle of a wooden spoon.
